Prescribing Policy

This policy explains when and how our physicians prescribe medication. It exists so that patients know what to expect, and so that our practices are transparent to regulators and payment partners.

A real evaluation comes first

We prescribe only after a physician has evaluated you and established a legitimate physician–patient relationship. That evaluation includes an in-person examination and appropriate laboratory testing. We do not issue prescriptions on the basis of an online questionnaire alone, and we do not prescribe to anyone who has not been examined.

What we will not do

• We do not prescribe without an examination and clinical indication.
• We do not prescribe on request where there is no medical indication.
• We do not prescribe growth hormone for anti-aging, athletic performance, or body-building purposes. Growth-hormone therapy is prescribed only for conditions for which it is approved by the FDA.
• We do not dispense or sell prescription medication from this website.

Hormone therapy

Hormone replacement therapy is prescribed after evaluation, laboratory testing, and a discussion of benefits and risks. Some hormone preparations we use are compounded by a licensed pharmacy rather than manufactured as an FDA-approved product. Compounded preparations are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not evaluate their safety or effectiveness. We will tell you when a preparation is compounded and why it has been chosen for you.

Off-label prescribing

Some medications we prescribe are used off-label — that is, for a purpose other than the one for which the FDA approved them. Off-label prescribing is lawful and common in medicine, but it means the FDA has not evaluated the medication for that use. Your physician will tell you when a prescription is off-label and discuss the evidence and the alternatives with you.

Refill requests are handled through the patient portal or by calling the office. Refills may require an up-to-date evaluation or laboratory work. You may contact your prescribing physician through the portal or by calling (877) 721-0047.
