MENOPAUSE

Menopause is part of the natural aging process. The decline of estrogen in your body that started during perimenopause continues, as your ovaries produce less and less. Clinically, menopause is defined as when you haven’t had a period for 12 months and your Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) is >50. This phase can last up to four years.

There are many women who are suffering with menopausal symptoms unnecessarily. Untreated, this can lead to women feeling frustrated, alone and hopeless as they try to make sense of and treat their condition alone or rely on a provider who isn’t an expert in hormones and these life transitions.

In addition to any symptoms they experienced during perimenopause, women can experience:

  • Cognitive problems

  • Lack of energy

  • Depression

  • Low libido

  • Bladder problems

  • Thinning of the skin and hair

  • Hot flashes

  • Emotional instability

  • Fewer periods (frequency)

At our clinic, we will evaluate your thyroid, testosterone, growth hormone, cortisol and DHEA levels are optimal. From there, you will receive a customized plan that is tailored specifically to you and your unique needs.

Women who are in menopause typically receive treatment plans that include: bioidentical estradiol, progesterone, DHEA, testosterone and thyroid (if needed).

Estradiol is one of the key hormones used to treat patients during menopause. Estradiol is a very important hormone that protects a woman’s heart, bone and brain. It protects against cancer, keeps the vaginal mucosa moist, and the memory sharp. It also prevents abdominal weight gain, which is commonly seen among women in their 40’s as they approach menopause.

Estradiol (one of the estrogens) alleviates the uncomfortable, undesirable symptoms of menopause. In addition, it has been found to prevent:

  • Cardiovascular disease

  • Osteoporosis

  • Colorectal cancer

  • Cataracts & macular degeneration

  • Alzheimer’s Disease

  • Vaginal atrophy

Testosterone has also been found to provide relief and benefits. Treatment has been found to significantly increase energy levels, bone health, sense of well-being and libido. It also is reported to reduce depression and is often considered when women are experiencing significant fatigue and lethargy, hot flashes, migraines, nocturnia (frequent urination at night) and incontinence and low libido, along with other menopausal symptoms.

There is a way to transition comfortably and successfully through menopause. Women who come to our clinic attest to this fact. We can help you feel the best you have in years, and manage your treatment holistically and safely.
